Our data offers insights into the most effective university practices related to generative AI, serving as a valuable resource for various stakeholders within an organization. The guidance available here extends beyond a mere collection of documents; the use of natural language processing to interpret those documents fosters a deeper understanding of the applications and ethical considerations surrounding this transformative technology.
The profound impact of generative AI on education and research demands a thoughtful, coordinated response. While presenting incredible opportunities for innovation and knowledge creation, AI also raises challenges related to academic integrity, intellectual property, security, skill acquisition and retention, and future job security. Recognizing the need for a unified approach, Boston University assembled a task force of faculty experts from diverse disciplines to guide BU in responsibly addressing generative AI in education and research.

The Minds Behind the Policies
This site is a student venture, in support of the aims of the AI Task Force. The document collection, qualitative analysis, and semantic network were built by the students in the Fall 2023 class of DS380 "Data, Society, and Ethics" within the Faculty of Computing and Data Sciences, led by teaching assistants Showndarya Madhavan and Sai Krishna Sashank. The original site design was created by Heather Davies and Jason Huang.
